Head Coach Larry Nykerk has concluded his 50th season as a Traverse City Central Tennis Head Coach. Coach Nykerk has been the head coach of the TCC Girls Tennis program for 34 years. Impressively, the Trojans have qualified for MHSAA State Finals every single one of those 34 years!

The Trojans finished in a three-way tie for 5th overall in Division 2 at the Midland Community Tennis Center on Saturday, June 3.

The #1 seeded No. 1 Doubles team of Yana Beeker & Kristin McClintock fell in the Finals in a hard fought 6-4, 6-4 defeat to Forest Hills Northern.

No. 3 Doubles, Bailey Swanson & Bella Scalise battled their way to the Semifinals, but fell to eventual State Champion, Forest Hills Northern.

The No. 4 Doubles team of Alex Schweitzer & Margaret Sutherland fell in the Semifinals, but picked up 5 match points versus the eventual State Champion team from East Grand Rapids.

#1 Singles Autumn Roberts (2015 State Champion) won two matches before falling to the eventual State Champion from East Grand Rapids.

Another impressive showing for one of the state’s most storied Girls Tennis programs under Coach Nykerk’s leadership. Great season Trojans, we are proud of you!
