The Traverse City Central High School Trojan Varsity bowlers participated in the Big North Conference Tournament at the Gaylord Bowling Center on December 22. The Lady Trojans finished in third place, with the Trojan boys taking 4th.
Leading the Lady Trojans in the individual game scores was senior Emerson Holmes with a high game of 136. The ladies went into the semi-finals seeded third with a total 1,423 pinfall across four Baker Games and two regular games. They fell to the Traverse City West Lady Titans, who were seeded second, in the two Baker game semifinal match by a narrow 280-258.
The Trojan boys scored a total 2,323 in the qualifier round, seeding third for the semi-finals. Top scores in the individual games included 188 games from senior Miles Hanbury and sophomore Wyatt Beckstead, a 181 game from sophomore Gavyn O’Neil, and a 180 game from junior Spencer Raetz. The boys also turned in a high Baker game score of 215. they fell to Petoskey in the semifinals 325-249.
Three of the Trojan boys were named to the 10-member all-conference team on the strength of their individual scores: Miles Hanbury was the 5th high scorer for the day, Wyatt Beckstead came in 6th, and Gavyn O’Neil came in 9th.
